When the image is underexposed and dark, you can correct it by raising the "Brightness" slider. At this time, if all colors are converted to brighter colors based on an average calculation, it becomes easy to get blown out highlights, so the slider is designed to brighten the mid-tones. Even so, if you raise the slider too much, all colors will be crushed toward pure white. Depending on the situation, crushing can begin relatively early, but in most images it's not noticeable. Depending on the lighting conditions, a haze resembling a white flare can appear. Since white haze is caused by dark areas turning white, it might seem like a simple correction using "Shadows/Highlights," but lighting conditions are not simple, so it's not that easy. I wondered if there was a better way to simply brighten the image.
Therefore, we created Bright, which brightens while preserving the shadows, and Shade, which darkens only the shadows.
While a traditional slider is sufficient for underexposure, in practice, brightening a properly exposed image is intentional. This means aiming for a brighter image. Brightening also means increased sharpness, but this can lead to distracting bokeh. Therefore, we added a Depth of field feature that further increases the depth of field beyond just "bright." This feature is also used in Kino (Cinema), especially for portrait photography. It produces sharp images even in low-light conditions. We will also explain how to add color and softening effects below. Due to its characteristics, the brightness is approximately +40. Because achieving cool tones is difficult, we added a Freeze effect.
With the image editing app "Affinity" and the video editing app "DaVinci Resolve" now available for free, anyone with a computer can now apply Luts.
I didn't do anything to this image, it's in 16-bit mode.
Adobe Brightness +60. Brightens the entire screen evenly.

This image has not been edited. I'll just change it to 16-bit mode and set the brightness to +40.

霜枝U2 Depth doesn't increase contrast, but it does create a clear difference between light and dark. It also has depth. Neither is better than the other, so you may want to use them interchangeably or blend them.
This is the more effective material.
In Adobe, the image doesn't become clearly brighter, so I set the brightness to +80. Even if I increase the contrast further, the original image is still dull, so the image doesn't become clearer.
霜枝U2 Depth is left as is and is clearly bright without being overdone. However, the effect is still too strong, so it would be better to tone it down.
Magenta, faded, warm, and soft can be adjusted using these sliders.
Since I couldn't achieve only cool colors, I created an additional Lut to make it slightly cooler.
This is 霜枝U2 Freeze. I set the opacity to 60%, which is quite low. In reality, this is how much it will be used. It's hard to see in this image, but it also has a slight blue tint.
