　The Gaussian type S1 was for still photography, while the S2 had roughly double the aberration and was a kino lens. The S2 also had a slightly wider angle of view (not much difference).

　Angénieux did not supply the S2 for still photography, but instead designed the S21 with a larger aperture. However, it has been announced that the S21 is not suitable for anything other than close-up photography. The S1 is a great lens, but the S2 is a kino lens, so this one is more anticipated.

　In French Kino, Berchio also has a Kino-Plasmat-like Kino, but the S2 gives the impression of being more subdued than those.
